Britney Won't Be Charged Over Late-Night Custody Frenzy
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (January 4, 2008) – Britney Spears will not be charged over the incident last night at her home in Beverly Hills, which eventually led to her hospitalization, Access Hollywood has confirmed.
Authorities were called to Spears’ residence at around 8 PM after she reportedly refused to relinquish custody of her youngest son, Jayden James, for transportation back to the custody of his father, Kevin Federline.
“We do not have plans to charge her,” an LAPD media relations spokesperson told Access Hollywood. “There was nothing criminal here and as far as the LAPD is concerned the case was closed last night as soon as the children were handed over to their father.”
On Thursday, Spears allegedly locked herself in a roomwith Jayden, as a court appointed monitor placed her eldest son, Sean Preston, in a car. When the monitor returned, Spears reportedly refused to relinquish custody and authorities were called.
Later in the evening, Spears was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she is currently being held under Section 5150, an involuntary psychiatric hold. The hospital can keep her there against her will for up to 72 hours.
