Report: Britney Had Two Guns In Her Home?
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (January 5, 2008) – The dramatic situation at Britney Spears’ home was sparked by a call from Kevin Federline to his lawyers, according to a new report from Britain’s News of the World.
Spears was taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Thursday night after a standoff at the pop star’s home. She reportedly refused to relinquish custody of her youngest child, Jayden James, and barricaded herself behind a door.
NOTW now claims that a pal of the rapper-turned-actor told them that the situation escalated after K-Fed called his legal team, who in turn called the authorities, because two guns were believed to be on the premises.
“K-Fed was terrified,” the friend reportedly told the British tabloid. “He realized she had a gun where she was holding them.”
NOTW claims to have learned that Federline gave Spears a Beretta pistol on a previous birthday.
“Kevin knew she was on the edge and might snap at any time,” the source reportedly told NOTW. “Knowing there were two firearms in the house, including the Beretta, he wasn’t taking any chances— hence the massive police response.”
The magazine is also reporting that Spears was on a handful of prescription and over-the-counter drugs prior to Thursday’s standoff.
A source described in NOTW as a “long term friend of the star” reportedly said that Britney appeared to have taken Nyquil, diet pills, antihistamine tablets, Vicodin, sleeping pills, Zantac, Ritalin and OxyContin before Thursday’s late night incident.
On Friday, Life & Style reported that Britney was tested for drug and alcohol use after being admitted to Cedars and the tests came back negative.
“Her blood test just came back, and, thank God, it was clean. There are no traces of drugs or alcohol of any kind,” a source close to the Spears family told Life & Style.
Another source reportedly told the NOTW that Spears’ behavior in recent weeks has been increasingly bizarre.
“About three weeks ago she started bashing her head against the wall when she’s frustrated or annoyed about something,” an insider told NOTW. “That’s a form of self-harm. One of her team saw her doing it but never thought to intervene. She just thought it was Britney having one of her moments.”
The source said that one of Britney’s children started copying the behavior, but no one stepped in to intervene.
“Even when little Sean started copying her nobody did anything about it,” the source reportedly told the paper.
Attempts by Access Hollywood to reach reps for Spears and Federline were unsuccessful as of press time.
