Hillary Makes 'Surprise' Appearance As Letterman Returns To Air

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (January 2, 2008) – Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will be a surprise guest when David Letterman returns to the air tonight.

Worldwide Pants, which produces “The Late Show With David Letterman,” reached a deal over the holiday period with the WGA, which today sees his writers returning to work.

Earlier it was announced that Robin Williams was Letterman’s first guest, but now, Access Hollywood has exclusively learned that Clinton will also make an appearance. As previously announced, Lupe Fiasco will be the musical guest on the show.

While visiting the “Late Show” set earlier today, Access Hollywood learned that Dave’s famous Top Ten list will be concentrated on the “Top 10 Striker Demands.”

Writers on the show told Access they are thrilled to be back at work after nine weeks of striking.

They were coaxed back into working when Worldwide Pants gave the WGA “everything” they asked for, the writers said.

Fans of the late show can expect to hear strike jokes for as long as the strike lasts, as the working writers strive to bring attention to those still on the picket line.

As for the guests, while “Late Show” writers admit it was difficult to book guests at first, things are now looking up. The WGA is encouraging SAG members to go on the show.
